Understanding the soul is real knowledge. In the course of the pandemic, we have learnt to enjoy solitude more than crowded festivity. Now, we will have to learn to reduce dependence on free goods and services from the government, which is likely to face financial crunch.
To reduce, if not remove, discrimination, deprivations, discontent and distrust in a democratic development model, we certainly need civil society. We need real education that allows for proper, productive and practical use of head, intelligence quotient; heart, emotional quotient; and hands, manpower with dignity of labour — with honesty of purpose. We need to respect time and learn to manage it.
We can make attempts to recognise the merits of every individual around us and reward those who are deserving. We may also resolve to enrich our knowledge in 2021. We can also try to enhance the marginal propensity to decide, MPD, which is necessary and sufficient condition for increasing marginal propensity to save, MPS, and marginal propensity to invest, MPI, and reduce marginal propensity to consume, MPC; this is the basic economics in the domain of ‘needonomics’, economics of needs.
We can desire and demand peace, progress and prosperity with spiritually guided materialism, SGM, based on ethical, non-violent, spiritual and environmentfriendly economics. We have to start with a positive mindset.
