THE ROOM
A man is standing in his kitchen. A room he built himself. He knew every part of the room, every cupboard and corner. It was his room. A spider began making its home in one of the kitchen corners. The man saw the spider and minutes later, the spider was gone.
He did nothing wrong, the spider. Making a home, gathering food, resting, playing football on his days off, having offspring. That’s all he was doing, then gone. In an instant, regardless of what he believed made his life possible, gave it meaning, he was gone. And it was nothing personal for the man. For the man, it was just a spider.
And then there’s the story of the man. The one when he gets caught in a room that’s not his own, or the spider’s.
