Anant G. Nadkarni is an Advisor,Mentor and Consultant in Corporate Sustainability and facilitates this within the corporate sector and advises national and international bodies on the subject. Anant G. Nadkarni headed a Tata initiative on CSR and Sustainability from 1996. He became Vice-President, Group Corporate Sustainability of the Tata Group in 2005 till retiring in end 2013.. In these years Anant has had the opportunity to work in diverse fields and interact with an extremely interesting and wide array of people from all walks of life including business, politics, academics, journalism, authors, bureaucrats, leaders and followers, and assist authorities and citizens to innovate ways to address new challenges in community building. He was invited to speak or present this work in over 20 countries which included many presentations touching nearly several thousand people. He also conducts various forms of programmes including the use of process work in CS Leadership and Sustainability for the Tata group, other businesses and institutions. Anant passionately mentored 54 Tata companies who signed the UN Global Compact as well as ensuring their annual communications cascade. Anant and his team conceptualised the Tata Index for Sustainable Human Development with the UNDP and was invited to.present it to the UN Secretary General at the UN Leadership Summit in June 2003 He was elected Chairman, the Interim Standards Board, AA1000 – AccountAbility (2011-2012), has also been a member of the Standards Board since 2009. Since 2007, Anant has been the Chairman of a Panel for the Bureau of Indian Standards that helped adopt ISO26000 and release Indian Standard -IS16001 Social Accountability at the Workplace (which is the equivalent of SA8000 in India). Anant served the Advisory Board of Social Accountability, US and is permanent Member of their Founder's Club! He networked with the Chartered Institute for Management Accountants in the UK, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, and the institute of Cost Accountants in India on integrated reporting. He was invited by the Institute of Directors and Tomorrow’s Company to speak at the House of Lords, UK, on co-creation of sustainable value. Anant has lectured at the Said Business School at Oxford, UK; University of Swinburne in Australia, and Harvard Business School among others. He was as an executive in residence program at the Richard Ivey Business School in Canada. Anant has taken Sustainability Certificate Programs and has guest lectured in classes on Transformational Leadership, Sustainability, Social Innovation, and Sustainability in Action. Anant actively works or is on the Panels engaged in evolving the Chartered Global Management Accounting Principles through CIMA, UK. And recently appointed as a Panel Member of a subcommittee by the British Standards Institute, UK to prepare Guidelines for Chartered Global Management Accounting Principles. At present he teaches in B schools, mentors students and professionals, works with businesses and is engaged in organising worships, speaking and writing.
