I usually don't go to watch Hindi films and this is one of the reasons why my wife gets annoyed with me! I prefer to watch Hollywood movies whereas she likes Bollywood movies.
But this time, after making her skip many movies in the past, I took her to watch Drishyam. I thought it would be bit different because of its queer name--how often in Bollywood do you a movie with such a name?
Well, I have to admit, I was simply bowled over! It was after a very long time, I would say, that I got to watch a Hindi movie and actually liked it. The script, the plot, and the editing - all were amazing. I could easily place it in the category of some of the nicely created Hollywood movies.
Though there were many points that I liked in the movie, but I want to talk about the central theme of the story in this article: When it comes to protecting the family, there's nothing right or wrong.
How convincing is this statement? Do you agree that for the sake of family, you would do anything? At least, for the sake of the particular story of this movie, the act was justified though we would not want this to happen to anybody. However, can we generalise the idea of going any distance for the sake of one's family?
Well, for me, I would say that it is not an option -- depending upon the conditions and circumstances, we choose accordingly. However, we can't establish it as a fact, because then it would mean there would be no limit to what wrongs we could do for the sake of our family.
What's your take on this? I am sure you will get a better perspective of this debate if you have watched the movie. Do share your views...
