Time is a curious thing. As we all know, when we are having fun time flies. Conversely, when things are dull time seems to slow down. Of course, all of this is just our perception. Time never really goes fast or slow. In fact, time itself is our own construction. All things have a natural cycle as part of the continuous cosmic process of creation and destruction. The time reference for us humans is the length of our lifespan. If we are to live for a finite number of years on an average, then that is the ultimate time we have on this Earth.
Once we have figured this out, we then decide what we want to do with the time that we have. And since we live in a society, we exchange the time that we have for the things that we want. In other words, if we are working a job, we are essentially commiting a part of our finite time for money so that we can get the things we want. Ultimately we are spending time.
I believe we should approach every task as an investment in time. And looked at in this way, we will become better judges of the quality of our activities. Ask yourself if what you are going to do is worth your time. Does it contribute towards improving your life? Does it make you happy? Does it help you understand the purpose of life? Or does it buy you more time?
When things are quantified as a derivative of time, we can get rid of unnecessary baggage and only focus on the things that are important. Then no activity will be dull or boring. And time won't seem to move slowly but just at the right tempo.
