gods are a recent arrival on the stage of human history. Before they arrived, as distinctive entities, and then were imposed on us much superior to us — there was the period of Matriarchy. In this period Nature was treated as endowed with extraordinary powers. The whole cosmos was recognized as pulsating with divine energies. The sacred was here, on the earth and with the earth. Human beings consider themselves as part of divine cycles. There was no separation of the Divine from Nature. And human beings were not separated from Nature either. This was so roughly 7000 years ago.
Then the Arians came from the north and changed it all. They created Sky gods and situated them high up in the heavens. The sky gods were an anticipation of the monotheistic gods. The sky gods were endowed with powers much more superior than previously known on the earth. These Sky gods became the repositories of all divinity, while divinity on the Earth and in nature were denied.
The priests of Sky gods, which were all men, appointed themselves as exclusive interpreters and guardians of Sky gods. At the same time, all the powers possessed by women were diminished or denied and all holy vestiges of Matriarchy were demolished and eliminated.
In the process Nature was disconnected from the Divine; and so were human beings disconnected. Expressed otherwise, Sky gods became disconnected and detached from both human and Nature. As the result, we human beings became lost and alienated — from ourselves and from nature. This radical separation of Sky gods from nature and from us has been the sources of all alienation plaguing human beings during the last 5000 years.
