Most of the time the mind is caught in thought, because the mind doesn't exist. The mind is nothing but a bundle of thoughts — when there are no thoughts there is no mind. Therefore we feel the mind is caught in thought. What is the mind? It is nothing but a bundle of thoughts — 50 thoughts a minute, 50,000 thoughts a day. The mind creates fear, worry, stress, anxiety, and it seems that it steals our peace of mind. But the moment we still the mind, we kill the mind. There is no mind. Therefore, we have to be in that state of thoughtlessness, often referred to as consciousness. The mind has a goal, to disturb our consciousness, because in consciousness, the intellect shines, the mind is defeated, and when we discriminate, we realize the mind is an illusion. Where is the mind, we cannot find.

That is the intrinsic nature of Mind. No point in asking WHY. It is like asking why is Nature beautiful?

It is estimated that 50,000-60,000 thoughts occur during the 16 waking hours, due to neuronal electrical activity in the normal brain of human beings. Mind can be trained and controlled for management and mental health.
