A wise man once said that "the body of a man is very small compared with the spirit that inhabits it." Across time and geographical boundaries, people have accepted the power of music for attaining enlightenment and acquiring spiritual insight. Sacred Vibes, India’s biggest Kirtan Concert, which happened in Bangalore today, was an exceptional occurrence where spirituality and music twined in a single thread beautifully.

Sacred Vibes is ISKCON’s annual spiritual celebration, of which Speaking Tree was a partner this year. The concert took place at Princess Academy Hall, Palace Grounds, Bangalore and was graced by leading Mantra Music artists - Gaura Vani and Visvambhar (the Mayapuris) along with dance performances by Vrinda Devi and Ganga Sheth.

For a while, a group of like minded socialists wanted to share the age old tradition of Mantra Music along with the life values of Vedic India with the world. Sacred Vibes was an effort to share the joy of chanting with the younger generation.

We must save the divine melody, and allow the benign force of music with its tremendous sustaining and benevolent power to drive out any number of ‘isms’. This is only possible if we keep our musical sensibilities intact and expanding, which was the main aim of Sacred Vibes.
